Stop the Hate

quidkidconfessions:

I am so sick of certain people in the quidditch community making up reasons to hate other regions and create a huge divide. Announcement of the World Cup locations should be a cause for excitement, not an excuse to hate each other and make wild accusations. The NE does not have a holier-than-thou attitude. And I have not seen the extreme accusations of whining. Sure, there will be complaints from someone no matter where the location is - you cannot accommodate everybody. But don’t take complaints of a few and generalize that to an entire region. That only serves to piss uninvolved people off and creates more hate and hostility. There is enough discrimination and divide in the world without people creating drama and adding to it.

No Quove

fuckyesquidditch:

quidkidconfessions:

I REALLY hate when people say “quidkid,” “quove,” or any melding of quidditch with other words.  It turns the entire community into baby-speak idiots.

That’s cool and all, you have your opinion and I’ll respect it.

But you know, it is kind of insulting to be told that being a bit silly and playing around with my friends is “baby-speak idiots”. Yes, it is silly - but silly does not make me childish, much less an idiot. And you know, I think I have all the more fun because I can be quidiculous.

What is that famous quote? Ah yes.

Critics who treat ‘adult’ as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

-C.S. Lewis

Still, all the quove for you anon : ) I promise that if anybody asks me not to use qu words with them specifically I’ll be respectful so long as they are respectful of me and my preference for indulging in quocabulary.

Quove,

Your friendly neighbourhood Broooer
